With “Girogustando,” the flavours of Italy are seen in the kitchen. Starting in October, the appetizing calendar of events dedicated to “gastronomic twinning” returns to the Siena area. Fourteen chefs with different experiences and career paths will work together to create seven different menus, each blending their own creativity. The events are an opportunity to exchange styles, where the challenge is knowing how to blend cultures and culinary traditions that are sometimes vastly different between one another, offering the public an unusual kind of dinner.
This is also a unique way to discover some of the most beautiful villages in the province of Siena, starting with Cetona (SI), where, on Thursday, October 3, the restaurant Nilo will host Ercole from Crotone for an evening that combines Tuscan and Calabrian traditions. “Girogustando” continues on Tuesday, October 22 in San Gimignano (SI), with a menu by Locanda Sant’Agostino and a guest chef from La Vite di Bibbiena (AR). Thursday, October 24, the event moves to the heart of Siena, where the restaurant Particolare will come together with Sedicesimo Secolo from Orzinuovi (BS).
On Wednesday, November 6, the staff at Restaurant Alpage in Cervinia (AO) will collaborate with Trattoria della Berardenga in Castelnuovo Berardenga (SI), while on Friday, November 5, the restaurant Angolo di Acquaviva in Montepulciano (SI) will host Bocon Divino from Camposampiero (PD).
A new stop in the heart of Siena will be visited on Wednesday, November 20, with the restaurant Gallo Nero in Siena hosting San Giorgio from Genoa. “Girogustando 2019” will come to an end on Thursday, November 28 in Pienza (SI), where Dal Falco will offer a menu designed with Konnubio from Arenzano (GE).
And the spirit of collaboration between territories, as well as between chefs, won’t only be seen on the plate. The event’s partners include wine consortiums and entities dedicated to protecting and promoting Tuscany’s typical agricultural products. This is further progress for the application of the “Vetrina Toscana” model, the shared project by the Region and Unioncamere Toscana that aims to valorize regional food and wine production and those who bring it to life.
There’s more: in line with this combination of “cuisine and culture” that has always characterized Girogustando events, on multiple occasions, the 2019 edition will be dedicated to topics that tie Tuscany to history and the present day: the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, particularly his curious rapport with cuisine, will be the theme of the entertainment on several occasions.
