The week of Anteprime di Toscana (Tuscan wine previews) has been postponed to May 2021. The best known and most interesting event for excellence in Tuscan wine usually takes place in February and has been postponed to spring due to the health emergency.
The news was given by the vice president and councilor for agriculture Stefania Saccardi, in agreement with the consortia for the protection of Tuscan DOCG / DOC / IGT wines, gathered at the AVITO association.
Vice President Saccardi commented, “It was unthinkable to cancel the Anteprime di Toscana in 2021. They have always represented the highlight in which the Tuscan wine system, the backbone of the entire regional agricultural sector, presents itself to international markets and media with the new vintages, especially at a time like this, in which promotion can be a powerful lever, if not to increase, at least to maintain positions on international markets”.
The new dates for the event will be from 14 to 21 May 2021 and will see a series of wine presentations and consortia from the main regional designations of origin.
The president of AVITO, Francesco Mazzei, reiterated, “Not all evil comes to harm. The spring months are in fact the ideal period, not only to taste more ready wines, but also to experience and visit the splendid wine territories in their maximum splendor. We hope to welcome many guests to Tuscany”.
The event, organized by the Tuscan Regional Council, the Florence Chamber of Commerce and the Consortia, sees the participation of many national and international journalists and involves all the territories of Tuscany.
The commissioner continues, “With a vintage that has been exceptional in the vineyard, we are confident that our winemakers will be able to produce equally excellent wines. This will be the most convincing response from the world of Tuscan wine to some clumsy attempt at fraud that our brands are subject to from time to time, and that thanks to the close collaboration of the consortia and control bodies, we are able to drive out”.
