A typical family run restaurant that enriches the culinary options on the outskirts of the Old Town of Grosseto. Within the ancient walls of the city in the Bastione della Rimembranza, you’ll find Locanda De’ Medici, run by Peccianti family since 1918 (originally called the mensa dell’Ansaldo and then the fiaschetteria in Corso Carducci) and offering refreshment to the people of Maremma and to all those who want to visit this wonderful town. Going down the front steps, you enter one of the old gun caves which, during World War II, sheltered many Grosseto refugees. Now the environment is home to a charming restaurant with a large airy dining room where delicacies are born. Besides typical Maremman dishes (acquacotta (vegetable soup), tortelli, tagliatelle and wild boar); handed down from generation to generation, the Peccianti family have ventured into fish, managing to combine the simplicity of local fresh fish grilled dishes with more elaborate offerings where the goodness of the dish lies in the search for raw materials of excellent quality.
