From the Etruscan Coast to the Island of Elba, there are numerous places where you can eat Tuscan food. Each restaurant has a different tasting menu but they all offer local wines and traditional dishes.
The seafood dishes are, of course, predominant: from boiled octopus, Elba-style marinated fish, grilled oily fish and crispy sea bream filet with mint to dried salted cod and potatoes in green sauce. For fish lovers, the province of Livorno is a true paradise of delicacies: tagliolini pasta with red mullet, risotto with cuttlefish ink, Livorno-style dried salted cod, Tyrrhenian rockfish soup and ‘acciughe alla povera’ (marinated anchovies).
There is also space for traditional cakes, like the ‘schiaccia briaca’ (literally meaning ‘drunken cake’) of Elba and delicious drinks like Elba raisin wine and Livorno punch: a true food and wine journey through the flavours of Livorno.
