In the province of Lucca, there are over 100 Vetrina Toscana trattorias, inns and taverns and also numerous little shops offering local products. From the Garfagnana mountains to the sea of Versilia, there are numerous places where you can discover the local flavours. Each restaurant has a different tasting menu but they all offer local wines and traditional dishes.
They range from Garfagnana spelt soup, charcoal-grilled pork rosticciana (pork ribs) to roast goat with typical Lucca beans, seasoned with the typical local oil from the Lucchesia area. The fish dishes include spaghetti with clams, penne pasta with scampi and courgettes, filet of sea bass and seafood risotto. Then there are the typical local cakes and pastries, like buccellato (typical cake of Lucca) or the renowned ‘torta d’erbi’ (sweet vegetable pie), all accompanied by Colline Lucchesi red DOC wine.
