A meeting between food and wine, culture, the environment, between the sea and the hills. This is the common thread that unites the events promoted by Confesercenti Toscana Nord within Vetrina Toscana, the project of the Region and Unioncamere Toscana that supports restaurants and activities that make use of local products, as well as authentic producers.

Two projects involving Versilia and the Lucca plains which have been launched in recent days. “We wanted to literally embody the spirit that animates Vetrina Toscana – explained the area manager of the Versilia and Lucca districts of Confesercenti Toscana Nord, Daniele Benvenuti, and the coordinator of the association’s events office, Duccio Signorini – by implementing two projects involving both restaurant owners and retailers in Versilia and Lucca for the promotion of local products, linking them to important cultural and environmental contexts.”

Coast meets hill

Let’s have a look at the two events more in detail. The two representatives of Confesercenti Toscana Nord continue the conversation. “For Versilia, we have devised a project entitled Coast meets hill, involving restaurants and wine producers through the cooperation with the La strada del vino e dell’olio di Lucca, Montecarlo e Versilia consortium. Ten restaurants linked to the sea will feature on their wine lists labels from Lucca, offering them to their customers in combination with their dishes, thus contributing to the valorisation of the local food and wine supply chain, the quality of products, and the unique territories of the province. Customers of these restaurants – continue Benvenuti and Signorini – will also have the opportunity to receive vouchers with dedicated discounts both for guided tours in the Parco di San Rossore (thanks to the collaboration with Top 5 Viaggi Centro Visite San Rossore) and for the Festival Pucciniano programme. We are very proud of this collaboration, for which we thank President Maria Laura Simonetti and General Director Moretti.”

Beer Tour: discovering craft beers

The second project is related to craft beer. “The name is Beer Tour: discovering craft beers, and it is designed to enhance the important local companies in the sector by promoting the culture of beer – explained Benvenuti and Signorini -. This programme is divided into two interconnected phases: the first part will involve guided tours of craft breweries by the consumers, who will then be able to dine in restaurants specially selected for the craft beers they discovered on the tour. A journey, the one with local craft breweries, which had already begun in recent months in Viareggio with an event entitled The Art of Beer. Confesercenti Toscana Nord’s Versilia and Lucca area manager Daniele Benvenuti concluded. “In this summer of a fresh start finally without any restrictions, we wanted to contribute to the revival of sectors that have suffered more than others from the pandemic and the current economic crisis. With an initiative that through the portal will have not only a regional dimension. Our projects will then conclude, as has been the case for several years now, with the Disfida del Testarolo (Testarolo Challenge), which will involve the Lunigiana region in the winter.”
