The national cancer association ANT has brought back its Hampers of Goodness. The baskets are filled with Tuscan food and wine delicacies that companies of the region, despite the economically difficult year caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, have made freely available. This is the fourth year of the initiative and the gift, once again, translates into valuable help for the most vulnerable and at risk of Covid-19 infection, such as cancer patients. Ant in Tuscany has been assisting them at home since 1997, free of charge.

The project

The hampers of goodness are sponsored by the Region, with the support of Vetrina Toscana, the project by the Region and Unioncamere Toscana that promotes restaurants, food shops and quality products that express the identity of the territory, enhancing food and wine culture and also attracting tourism. Cna, Confartigianato, Confcommercio and Confesercenti also participate in the initiative.

Products

You can choose wine, oil, biscuits, honey, truffles, jams and many other products for your hamper, all locally farmed and that reveal the rich Tuscan tradition. This is both ethical and socially responsible, as well as being an educational instrument about the importance of correct supply.

Donations

With a minimum donation of 20 euro, you will receive a lovely jute-made basket filled with four typical products of the area, helping ANT to avoid reducing its home care services for the ill. The Hampers of Goodness are available at points in Florence, Prato and Massa Carrara and online at ant.it/store/toscana/

The commitment of the ANT Foundation

Today, the ANT Foundation in Tuscany consists of a health team made up of 9 doctors, 1 nutritionist, 5 psychologists and 7 nurses who take care of more than 240 patients every day in the Florence-Prato-Pistoia area. Additionally, the psycho-oncology service is carried out by the psychologists of the foundation in Montevarchi, Massa and Versilia and Pontedera.

Since the Covid-19 emergency began, work has not decreased, on the contrary, the number of people who have turned to the foundation has steadily grown as hospitals remain dedicated to Covid patients. ANT professionals have always remained operational, taking all the necessary precautions and continuing housecalls that are often daily as well as providing home blood sampling and transfusions, psychological assistance, the supply of medical materials and devices, accompanying patients for hospital therapies and also providing what can be useful to improve the quality of life during illness.
